Girl Scouts Brave Cold For ‘Freeze Your Cookies Off’ Cookie Booth Sales In Suffolk

WEST BABYLON, NY — The Girl Scouts of Suffolk County braved frigid temperatures this weekend to launch the 2026 Girl Scout Cookie season with their annual “Freeze Your Cookies Off” in-person booth sales across Suffolk County.

Girl Scouts set up tables and displays outside local businesses, including the Lidl shopping center in West Babylon, inviting shoppers to purchase a box — or several — while supporting their local troops.

“You need to have good salesmanship skills and good people skills, so talking to people is a big part of it,” said Tori Dahrough, a Girl Scout from Lindenhurst. “And you have to convince people to buy things. And that’s not too hard because cookies are just great.”

Organizers describe the annual cookie program as the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world, giving participants early experience in communication, leadership and financial literacy.

“It teaches us how to handle money in case one day we run a business,” said Ryleigh Wallace, 9, of West Babylon. “And if we have a meeting that we do, it teaches us how to be kind and respectful and helpful.”

This year’s cookie lineup includes the new Exploremores cookie — a rocky road-inspired sandwich cookie with chocolate, marshmallow and toasted almond-flavored crème — along with longtime favorites including Thin Mints, Samoas (Caramel deLites) and Tagalongs (Peanut Butter Patties).

The 2026 cookie season runs through April, with booth sale dates and availability varying by location. Customers can find nearby booth sales or purchase cookies online using the Cookie Locator on the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County website.
