Grade School Scores Big Nationally

Current events teams competed in the National Current Events Olympiad.

Babylon Memorial Grade School’s fifth- and sixth-grade national current events teams once again secured top placement as they competed in the National Current Events Olympiad.

The sixth-grade team finished third in the nation and the fifth-grade team finished first in the nation. Additionally, two members of the fifth-grade team received individual accolades as well. Derek Huluhan finished first and Kevin Mroczka finished second overall nationally.

The National Current Events Olympiad consists of four meets with school across the nation throughout the school year that contains 30 challenging questions. The categories of the questions spanned news and international affairs, arts and entertainment, science and health, business and finance and sports.
