Jet Skiers Rescued From Fire Island Inlet: Police

Police found two men in the water, holding onto a disabled jet ski amid 10-foot waves.

BABYLON, NY — Two men were rescued Friday after their jet ski broke down in the Fire Island Inlet, according to police.

The men, a 28-year-old from Bay Shore and a 69-year-old from Massapequa, were about 1 mile from Overlook Beach in Babylon when their jet ski became disabled and they called 911, police said.

Officers used a marine unit and a helicopter to find the two men, who were in the water wearing life jackets and holding onto the jet ski amid 10-foot waves, according to police, who brought them to the Captree boat ramp. Neither man was injured, police said.
