The Parent-Teacher Association at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in the West Babylon School District ushered in 2021 with its “year of hope” initiative. Students shared their hopes, dreams and aspirations for a better and brighter 2021.

The PTA provided bags and battery-lit tealight candles. John F. Kennedy teachers facilitated this project by engaging students in meaningful discussions and having them decorate their bags with their hopes, dreams and aspirations for 2021. On Jan. 29, the school lined the hallways with luminaries of hope, and classes walked through the building while music played softly. Students reflected on their collective hopes and dreams for 2021.
