LIRR To Install New Track Throughout Town Of Babylon
Commuters might experience some short delays at grade crossings this week during the installation.

WYANDANCH, NY - The Long Island Rail Road will be installing a new track throughout the Town of Babylon this week.
The work began and Tuesday and is expected to continue through Thursday from Wyandanch to Farmingdale.
During this time, there will be temporary closures at grade crossings.

This work is being performed as part of the LIRR Double Track Project which will "improve service and reliability on the LIRR’s Ronkonkoma Branch and spur economic activity," according to the LIRR.
Train service will continue to run on a normal weekday schedule, however there will be some short term closures during the day.

On Tuesday, there were closures in Wyandance on Little East Neck Road.
On Wednesday, there will be short term closures between 30 and 45 minutes between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Wellwood Avenue in Farmingdale.
On Thursday, there will be short term closures between 30 and 45 minutes between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on New Highway in the Town of Babylon.
