Local Train Schedules Affected by East Side Access Project

Trains heading into and out of Babylon's LIRR station will face slight delays from normal weekly schedules.

The Long Island Rail Road will begin work associated with the East Side Access Project that will affect trains coming into and out of the Babylon station and other routes along the Babylon Branch.

The work, slated to begin on Monday, July 9, will include tunnel machines excavating through the Queens side of the East River Tunnels, eliminating an important switch used by incoming LIRR trains to New York City's Penn Station and reducing the number of tracks that can be used.

The MTA advises customers on the Babylon Branch to allow for up to 11 minutes of extra travel time.
