Man Fatally Struck While Riding Scooter On Sunrise Highway: PD

WEST BABYLON, NY — A man is dead after he was struck by a car while riding a scooter on Sunrise Highway on Monday morning, Suffolk County Police said.

The man was riding a scooter in the travel lanes eastbound near exit 39 in West Babylon at 3:20 a.m., police said, when he was struck by a vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, and his identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver and passenger in the vehicle were taken to a local hospital for evaluation, police said.
