Man Stole Bicycle, Sold It On Letgo App: Police
The 22-year-old sold the bicycle stolen from a local home for $80 to an undercover officer, police say.
BABYLON, NY - A Deer Park man was arrested on Friday for stealing a bicycle from a Babylon home and then selling it on the Letgo app, according to Suffolk Police.
After receiving a complaint from a man who found his gold BMX Volume bicycle being sold for $80 on Letgo, officers conducted an undercover operation and arranged to meet a person on Franklin Avenue in Deer Park, to purchase the bicycle, police said.
After the purchase was complete, officers discovered the bike was the one reported stolen from a Babylon home on July 11, police said.

The seller, 22-year-old Marquis Devonne Hawkins, was charged with petty larceny, fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property and an active warrant for second degree domestic aggravated harassment, police said.
He will be held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
