Optimum Community, Scripps Networks and Rebuilding Together Project in Babylon
350th Rebuilt Long Island Home Since Superstorm Sandy

Optimum Community recently partnered with Scripps Networks and Rebuilding Together to help rebuild John and Cathy’s home in Babylon that was devastated by Hurricane Sandy two years ago. Volunteers from Cablevision’s Employee Volunteer Program went to work staining the porch, painting the exterior of the house and landscaping the property. Rebuilding Together Long Island – with support from the American Red Cross and Society of St. Vincent de Paul– had rebuilt the exterior of the home and raised it four feet. The family will now be able to work on the interior of their new home. This project marks the 350th rebuilt home on Long Island since Superstorm Sandy. Pictured (l. to r.) with Cablevision employee volunteers are Scripps Networks Vice President/Affiliate Marketing Jeff Wilke, Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Homeowner John Fallon, NYS Senator Phil Boyle, Homeowner Cathy Fallon, Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey and Babylon Village Mayor Ralph Scordino.
