Police: Man With Knife Robs West Babylon Convenience Store

Fourth armed robbery in the area in the past week.

A man armed with a knife robbed a convenience store in West Babylon Tuesday night, police said.

According to police, a man entered The Barn, located at 10 Belmont Avenue, at 9:53 p.m. and displayed a silver knife to employees.

The man removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and then fled on foot eastbound on Kenyon Avenue, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Police said the knife appeared to be about a foot long with a curved blade and a jagged edge.

The suspect is described as a white male, in his 20s, approximately 6-foot-1, with a thin build. He was wearing a purple knit cap, green camouflage jacket and large gold-rimmed sunglasses at the time of the robbery.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this robbery to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Tuesday night’s robbery is the fourth armed robbery nearby within the past week. Last Wednesday, a man with a gun robbed a Deer Park gas station. Police are also searching for a man who robbed a Lindenhurst Dunkin’ Donuts while displaying a knife last Friday night. And on Saturday night, a man with a knife robbed a North Babylon gas station. Police have not said if they believe any of the robberies are related.
