ROBOTICS DEMONSTRATION AT GOLD COAST ARTS CENTER TUESDAY, AUGUST 18th
Free Interactive Demo of New Class Offering Will Outline Full Program Along With Q&A
Great Neck, NY (August, 2015) -- On Tuesday, August 18th at 3:30PM the Gold Coast Arts Center will be offering a FREE demonstration of one of their newest courses- “Introduction to Robotics” in the Doris Weinstein Playhouse at 113 Middle Neck Road, Great Neck, NY 11021. The new class which was recently added to the Fall 2015 Catalog is in partnership with Extreme STEAM Science Kids, the leaders in robotics, engineering and science elementary education on Long Island!
During this 40 minute demonstration, students will be given an outline of the 10 session program, and have a chance to meet and program the Lego NXT robots used in the class. Extreme STEAM’s director, Julian Aptowitz, will be on hand to answer any questions about the program. Aptowitz has been a high school physics teacher for over 20 years, holds a Masters degree in Education Technology, and is also a high school robotics coach.
The course itself will be offered this Fall on Tuesdays (September 29th, October 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, November 10th, 17th, 24th, and December 1st and 8th) 5:30-6:30PM (Ages 7+) with a $325 tuition ($300 Members). Through curriculum that meets the next generation science standards, elementary students will be engaged in authentic scientific experimentation which will allow them to develop the skills necessary to be successful in the 21st century. The class is designed for students with no prior programming or robotics experience, grades 3 to 6. Extreme STEAM Science Kids has been established by the Park Shore Country Day Camp located in Dix Hills, Long Island and provides programs in robotics, engineering and Life, Physical and Earth Science.
