During the COVID-19 pandemic, SCOPE Education Services was among the first to provide a healthy and safe full-day child care program across Long Island for families of first responders, health care professionals and other essential workers at no cost to families. From the start of the program until it ended at the end of August 2020, the SCOPE team quickly analyzed the unprecedented needs, developed and implemented new safety protocols and programs, and secured and trained the necessary qualified staff resulting in a safe and nurturing environment for children in their care. During the program’s existence, not one staff member or child in the program tested positive for COVID-19.
Following the reopening of schools in September 2020, SCOPE successfully reopened its before- and after-school child care programs in 194 locations in Nassau and Suffolk counties. This transition was made possible by the successful continuation of the health and safety protocols and training implemented during their emergency services program and the professionalism and dedication of the SCOPE staff.
