South Bay Cinemas Begins Remodel After 18-Month Delay
The remodeling of the 51-year-old theater, which was expected to begin in 2016, finally began this month.

WEST BABYLON, NY - Renovations to a beloved West Babylon theater finally began this month after an 18-month delay.
South Bay Cinemas, located on 495 W Montauk Highway, announced on its Facebook page on April 13 that demolition was finally scheduled to begin to the interior of the 51-year-old building this month.

The remodeled cinema is expected to re-open November 2018 and show movies such as The Grinch, Fantastic Beasts and Wreck It Ralph 2.
In September 2016, South Bay Cinemas announced plans to remodel the theater and reopen for the 50th anniversary last spring.

However, due to negotiating issues between the cinema company and the landlord, work on the building was delayed.
The new cinema will re-open as a 5 screen theater but will eventually house 8 screens. In addition, there will be all new luxury seating, state of the art Dolby Atmos sound in the main auditorium, hot foods from the concession stand, beer and wine, online ticketing, reserved seating, and more.
According to a previous message, the cinema will be under the same ownership group and still plan to keep prices low.
