Study: Babylon is 7th 'Most Irish Place' in New York

The study conducted by NerdWallet was released on Monday.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, NerdWallet set out to find the ”most Irish place” in New York.

Pearl River in Rockland County landed the top spot, but the rest of the top-10 is filled with Long Island towns, including Babylon at No. 7.

The rankings compiled by the personal finance website are based on the percentage of residents with Irish ancestry (towns with populations of fewer than 10,000 were not included in the study). In Babylon, that figure is 33.2 percent.

Here’s what NerdWallet wrote about Babylon:

The residents with Irish roots in Babylon are benefitting from the resurgence of interest in Irish dance. Here, Mise Eire Irish Dancers have formed a home base for their many travels. Irish dancers often perform at “feiseanna,” which is the Gaelic word for festivals.
