UPDATE: West Babylon Teen Arrested in Shooting
A 19-year-old suffered non-life threatening injuries in shooting Wednesday evening.

A 19-year-old from West Babylon has been arrested and charged with shooting another 19-year-old Wednesday evening, police said.
According to police, an ongoing dispute between two groups led to a large gathering in front 4 Lamberta Court around 5:30 p.m. Several subjects became involved in a physical altercation which resulted in a 19-year-old man sustaining a gunshot wound to his leg, police said.
The victim was transported by a friend at the scene to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury, police said.

Police responded to the scene after a 911 caller reported shots fired but the suspect and victim had already left the scene, police said.
An investigation by First Squad detectives determined that Devon Smith-Martin, 19, was responsible for the shooting and he was arrested a short time later, police said.

Smith-Martin, of 4 Lamberta Court, was charged with second degree assault and first degree reckless endangerment. He was held overnight at the First Precinct and was arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip.
