A Tribute to Babylon’s Veterans

Babylon Elementary School Students Hold Veterans Day Singalong for Service Members

Students at Babylon Elementary School gave heartfelt performances of patriotic song, poetry and dance for military veterans on November 10, both in the neighborhood and nationwide. The event served as a special tribute ahead of Veterans Day this year.

As part of the event, the students—all dressed in red, white and blue—gathered in the school gym and grade-by-grade launched into brief song-and-dance routines. In between the singing, students would step up to a microphone and recite their own poetry dedicated to the country’s veterans.

In attendance were parents and members of the students’ family, including a handful of local veterans. Before the performance, audience members were asked to stand up to applause in a touching tribute to the local veterans and their selfless service. service. In addition to the performance, a series of banners featuring the names of Babylon veterans from each of the branches of the U.S. Military.

“It was so great to be able to see our students and their families gather in person again for special events such as these,” said Principal Thomas Keogh. “The songs were wonderful, and the students showed an incredible amount of enthusiasm in honoring our veterans for their sacrifices.”
