Victim’s Trachea, Esophagus Severed In Babylon Stabbing; Man Pleads Guilty: DA

BABYLON, NY — A Yonkers man pleaded guilty Thursday to stabbing a 38-year-old man in the neck during a dispute at a Babylon residence last year, Suffolk County prosecutors said.

Robert Brozowski, 35, pleaded guilty Sept. 24 to first-degree assault, a violent felony, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.

Brozowski is expected to be sentenced to 18 years in prison when he returns to court Oct. 28, prosecutors said.

According to court documents and Brozowski’s admissions during his guilty plea, he was visiting the victim’s roommate at a Babylon residence during the late evening of Aug. 29, 2025.

Prosecutors said Brozowski, who did not previously know the victim, tried to start a verbal argument with him and then stabbed him in the neck with a knife.

Brozowski was on probation at the time for a domestic violence felony conviction in New Jersey, according to the district attorney’s office.

He fled in a red 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, prosecutors said.

At about 11:58 p.m., Suffolk County police officers from the First Precinct responded after two people called 911 to report the attack.

A nearby patrol officer spotted Brozowski’s truck traveling north on Deer Park Avenue before entering the westbound Southern State Parkway, prosecutors said.

The officer attempted to stop Brozowski, who initially pulled over before driving away moments later, according to the district attorney’s office. Brozowski stopped one exit farther west and was taken into custody.

The knife used in the attack was never recovered, prosecutors said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and underwent emergency surgery after his trachea and esophagus were severed in the stabbing, according to the district attorney’s office. He has since been released from the hospital and continues to recover.

Brozowski entered his plea before Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei.

He is represented by attorney Eric Besso, who was not immediately available to comment.

“This defendant violently stabbed a man in the neck and then fled, leaving the victim fighting for his life,” Tierney said. “Thankfully, two concerned 911 callers immediately reported what they witnessed, allowing first responders to get the victim the critical medical attention he needed.”
