GILGO BEACH, NY — Surveillance videos of Gilgo Beach homicide victim Megan Waterman, which were taken just before she disappeared, were released Tuesday by Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison.

During a press conference, Harrison, District Attorney Ray Tierney and Sheriff Errol Toulon, Jr. stated that the footage captures a 22-year-old Waterman in a Hauppauge hotel between June 4, 2010 and June 6, 2010.

Her remains were found six months later near Ocean Parkway.

"We believe she did leave the hotel that night to meet her killer," Harrison said.

He also stated that the videos were released to enlist the public’s assistance in solving the murders Waterman and 10 other people, whose remains were discovered in the Gilgo Beach area beginning in December 2010.

In addition, Harrison announced that the Crime Stoppers reward will be doubled to $50,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

The Gilgo news website was also revamped and rebuilt, he said, so that the investigators can effectively release more information to the public in a timely manner.

Last month, police announced that 911 audio of victim Shannan Gilbert will also soon be released.

No one has been charged in connection with the killings.

Shannan Gilbert's remains were found in 2011 in Oak Beach; Gilbert was a New Jersey escort who disappeared 10 years ago after meeting a client for sex on Oak Beach, leading to the discoveries of the 10 sets of human remains.

The search for Gilbert first led to the bodies of four other prostitutes, all of whom were strangled and stuffed in burlap bags. A total of 11 sets of human remains, including Gilbert's, were found along Ocean Parkway. Police have been searching for a serial killer ever since.

Mari Gilbert, Shannan's mother, was later murdered by another daughter.

A Netflix movie, "Lost Girls," was made about the case; the movie was filmed on the North Fork in 2018.
