WATCH: Rambunctious Raccoon Rescued After Getting Stuck In Jar
Frank Floridia of Strong Island Animal Rescue was called by a local resident who saw the raccoon had his head stuck in a jar for two days.

BABYLON, NY — A raccoon was rescued after getting into a hairy situation in Babylon this past weekend. Frank Floridia, president of Strong Island Animal Rescue, says he responded to a call for a raccoon with a jar stuck on its head on Park Avenue about 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Floridia said that the person who called told him they tried to call several organizations, but no one responded. The raccoon had the jar stuck on its head for about two days.

When he arrived, Floridia brought a ladder to help the raccoon, who was about 70 feet up in a tree. He helped to take the jar off its head and then gave it some food and water. Since the raccoon was stuck for so long, he brought it to a veterinarian to get it checked out. The raccoon had no injuries and was then released back out into the wild.

This wasn't the first time Floridia had to help an animal who was stuck. He says he has received about three to four similar calls in the past six months. He urges residents to recycle and fully break down their jars or containers so that animals don't get stuck in them. He also advises residents to never attempt to help an animal themselves in order to avoid getting hurt.
