West Babylon Junior High Takes Part in Global Youth Service Day

Community service is an important tenet of the West Babylon Junior High School’s character education program, which was eagerly displayed by the community service club’s participation in Global Youth Service Day.

The goal of Global Youth Service Day is to mobilize young people throughout the world to improve their communities through service to others. Established in 1988 as a campaign of Youth Service America, GYSD is the largest service event worldwide and addresses critical community issues through young people working together.

During an assembly, Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Councilman Tom Donnelly, Tax Receiver Corrine DiSomma and State Assemb. Joe Saladino spoke to the students about the importance to giving back to the community.
