West Babylon Student Goes Global with DECA

Student takes in the sights and sounds of China on global-tour with fellow student-ambassadors.

West Babylon High School senior and DECA Chapter President Samantha Bifulco participated in the first-ever DECA Goes Global experience with the People to People Ambassador Program.

Samantha and other DECA student delegates from around the country had the opportunity to visit China and explore the sites, the culture and the aspects of global business, including a visit to the Coca-Cola manufacturing plant in Shanghai. During the 17-day summer journey that encompassed four cities, student delegates and their advisors observed traditional Chinese business industries, including tea farming and silk factories. Student delegates also had the opportunity to learn from international business experts and visit Chinese schools.

DECA is an international program that strengthens the leadership skills of emerging entrepreneurs in the areas of finance, management, marketing and hospitality.

“I feel as if DECA has provided us all with an amazing opportunity for cultural and entrepreneurial growth, and People to People has provided the setting to make it feel more like a great family vacation,” said Bifulco. “It was a wonderful experience.”
