West Babylon Student Named Samsung American Legion Scholarship National Finalist

The American Legion Boys’ State of New York selected West Babylon High School senior Alexander Barrett as one of 97 Samsung American Legion Scholarship National Finalists on the basis of academics and school and community involvement. As a finalist, Alexander will compete for one of 12 scholarships, each totaling $20,000.

The Samsung American Legion Scholarship is part of a $5 million endowment bestowed by Samsung in appreciation for the service of Korean War veterans and to provide educational opportunities to descendants of wartime veterans. Alexander’s great-grandfather served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
