West Babylon Student Wins National Photographic Competition

Ryan Flanagan, a senior at West Babylon High School, was a first-place and Best in Show winner in the Photographic Society of America National Youth Showcase competition. This is the first time a West Babylon student has placed in a national competition.

Ryan submitted two photographic works that were judged among 700 entries from students across the United States. He was awarded first place and Best of Show for his photo titled “The Girl in the Woods.” In addition, Ryan’s submission titled “Going Out to Sea” placed third.

Ryan will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology this fall, where he will study photographing imaging technology.
