West Babylon Woman Hospitalized After Wrong-Way LIE Crash

COMMACK/BRENTWOOD, NY - Two people were hospitalized after a wrong-way crash on the Long Island Expressway on Wednesday night, according to Suffolk Police.

Officers responded to 911 reports of a motor vehicle driving the wrong way on the eastbound South Service Road of the LIE near exit 53 on the border of Commack and Brentwood at 11:50 p.m.

Tynetta King, 48, of Amityville was driving a 1995 Jeep Wrangler westbound on the eastbound South Service Road when she turned on to the exit ramp and crashed head-on into a 1998 Honda driving eastbound, police said.

The driver of the Honda, Lee Segers, 31, of West Babylon, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

King was transported to South Side Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

King was issued a field appearance ticket for driving with a suspended license and reckless driving. She was also issued three tickets for various traffic violations.

The Dix Hills Fire Department also responded to the scene.
