UPDATE: Husband Charged With Murder in Wife's Death in West Babylon

The 31-year-old man was in critical condition with self-inflicted wounds, police say.

UPDATE March 2: Jaggernauth, who is expected to survive, has been arrested and charged with second degree murder. He will be arraigned at a later date.

WEST BABYLON, NY- A 31-year-old West Babylon man is in critical condition at the hospital with self-inflicted wounds a day after police say he stabbed his wife to death inside their home.

According to police, First Precinct Patrol officers responded to a 911 call at 316 Sheffield Avenue on Saturday at 2:25 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Sonja Williams, 32, dead and her husband, Kerwyn Jaggernauth, with serious injuries.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. Jaggernauth was transported to an area hospital, where he is listed in critical condition, police said.

Two children, ages 12 and 5, live at the home, which is located at the corner of Colonial Road, but they were not home at the time of the incident, police said.
