Woman Impaired By Drugs, Alcohol During Serious Crash: SCPD

The driver's sister, who was a passenger in the car, was seriously injured after the 24-year-old crashed into a pole, police say.

BABYLON, NY - A Lindenhurst woman was impaired by drugs and alcohol during a crash that seriously injured her sister in Babylon early Monday, according to Suffolk Police.

Gina Waterbury, 24, was driving a 2005 Nissan Maxima westbound on Trolley Line Road when the vehicle left the roadway at the intersection of Little East Neck Road and struck two utility poles at 12:40 a.m., police said.

Alyssa Waterbury, 26, also of Lindenhurst, a passenger in the Nissan and the driver’s sister, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with serious injuries, police said.

Robert Murphy, 24, of Miami Shores, Florida, was transported to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Gina was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Nissan was impounded for a safety check.

Gina was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and alcohol.

She will be arraigned at a later date.
