Worker Hospitalized After House Collapses In Babylon

There were a total of 6 workers in the home when the structure collapsed on Friday morning.

BABYLON, NY - One person was hospitalized after a house collapsed in Babylon on Friday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

Officers responded to a call on Coppertree Lane at 9:15 a.m.

The house, which was reportedly damaged during Hurricane Sandy in 2012, was up on temporary lifts and workers were attempting lower it from the lifts when it collapsed.

Six workers, all adult males, were in the house and one person was injured.

The person was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of a fractured leg.

OSHA and the Town of Babylon Fire Marshal also responded.
