Motorcyclist Struck By Car, Seriously Injured

A motorcyclist, 61, was seriously injured after being struck by a car and thrown from his bike, police say.

BAY SHORE, NY — A 61-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured Thursday night in Bay Shore after he was struck by a car and thrown from his bike, Suffolk County Police said.

The 43-year-old driver of a 2008 Nissan SUV was going southbound on 5th Avenue at 6:30 p.m. when he turned east onto Spur Drive South, police said. The driver struck a 2019 Harley Davidson going northbound and the motorcyclist was ejected, police said.

The motorcyclist was taken to South Shore University Hospital for serious injuries, police said. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.

No charges were filed, police said.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
