BAY SHORE, NY — Law enforcement are investigating skeletal remains were found off the Southern State Parkway on Thursday, New York State Police said.
At about 7:15 a.m., a driver traveling eastbound pulled over off ramp around Exit 40, or Ocean Beach, when something caught their eye.
Upon a closer look, the individual discovered what they believed to be human skeletal remains and called 911.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) officers responded to the site, and confirmed the remains to be human.
The human remains may be connected to a missing person's case, another law enforcement agency told Patch.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
