BAY SHORE, NY — A Glen Cove man has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for his role in the kidnapping and killing of a Central Islip man who was targeted after parking outside a Bay Shore home, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Christopher Perdomo, 29, was sentenced Tuesday for his involvement in the 2022 killing of 29-year-old Linver Ortiz Ponce, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said.
Perdomo was one of seven co-defendants accused of participating in the kidnapping and murder at the direction of Kayla Alvarenga, prosecutors said.
Alvarenga, 23, of Bay Shore, was sentenced on April 28 to life in prison without the possibility of parole after a jury convicted her of orchestrating the killing, DA said.
According to prosecutors, the case began just before midnight on Sept. 17, 2022, when Ortiz Ponce parked his red Chevrolet Camaro in front of Alvarenga’s home on Fifth Avenue in Bay Shore.
Angry over where the victim parked, Alvarenga confronted him and demanded he move the vehicle, prosecutors said.
After the dispute, Alvarenga contacted Perdomo and several teenage co-defendants and instructed them to go to her home and remove Ortiz Ponce from the area, according to the DA’s office.
Perdomo and three adolescents arrived in a stolen BMW that had been taken during a carjacking hours earlier in Bay Shore, prosecutors said.
The group dragged Ortiz Ponce from his car while he slept inside, beat him, and stole his vehicle, according to prosecutors.
Ortiz Ponce fled on foot to a nearby gas station and attempted to hide behind parked vehicles.
Prosecutors said Alvarenga then directed the group to find, abduct and kill him.
Surveillance video captured Ortiz Ponce being abducted at gunpoint and forced into the stolen BMW, according to the DA’s office.
The group later drove to a church parking lot, where Ortiz Ponce was beaten again before Perdomo shot him multiple times as he attempted to crawl away, prosecutors said.
The defendants then fled in both vehicles before abandoning the victim’s Camaro in a wooded area in Smithtown and the BMW in Brentwood.
According to prosecutors, the group later returned to Alvarenga’s home using a rideshare service, where money from the victim’s wallet was distributed among them.
Perdomo was apprehended in Georgia in May 2024.
He pleaded guilty on Sept. 12, 2025, to first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, second-degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon, the DA said.
Five adolescent co-defendants also pleaded guilty. Prosecutors said all participants in the crime have now been sentenced.
Perdomo was represented by attorney Robert Gottlieb, who was not immediately available to comment following sentencing.
