BAY SHORE, NY — A pedestrian was seriously injured after he was struck by a car in Bay Shore on Saturday evening, Suffolk County police said.
The man was running from east to west across Fifth Avenue, just north of Brewster Street, when he was struck by a 2019 BMW 430 heading south at about 6:15 p.m., police said.
The pedestrian, whose identity had not been released by police as of Sunday, was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.
The BMW's driver, 18, of Selden, was not injured, police said.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating the crash.
