• Dog Trapped Under Shed Rescued With 'Jaws Of Life' In Bay Shore: FD (patch.com) — Bay Shore firefighters used hydraulic "Jaws of Life" tools to lift a backyard shed on Gardiner Drive and free a trapped dog named Cody in about 20 minutes. The successful rescue, one of nine calls that day, highlights how quickly local crews can respond when neighbors need help.
• Boat Catches Fire, Drifts Toward Bulkhead In Bay Shore: FD (patch.com) — Firefighters in Bay Shore quickly put out a fire on an unoccupied boat that drifted close to the bulkhead near Bay Shore Marina and South Penataquit Avenue. With help from Suffolk police and other agencies, they secured the vessel, extinguished the engine fire, and cleared the scene in under an hour.
• High school roundup: Girls volleyball, soccer, field hockey and boys badminton (newsday.com) — Bay Shore girls soccer fans will be glad to know the team earned a 2–1 Suffolk I win over Lindenhurst, with Julie Norena scoring the late go-ahead goal. The wider roundup also highlights other Long Island volleyball, soccer, field hockey, and badminton results from the same day.
