Annmarie Vollaro to Tackle Suffolk Half Marathon Again

Bay Shore resident running to raise funds for Suffolk County veterans services

Annmarie Vollaro of Bay Shore will be running her second Suffolk County half marathon on Oct. 30 at the Catholic Health Services second annual Suffolk County Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k.

The races will begin and end in downtown Patchogue.

"This is my second Suffolk County half marathon in support of our veterans," she said. The marathon raises funds for services for Suffolk County veterans. Last year's race netted $160,000 and was distributed to 19 organizations serving local veterans.

"We welcome all runners, of all abilities, to come out and honor those who have served their country," said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. "It is the least we can do for those who have sacrificed for us."

The race is scheduled for 8 a.m., starting and finishing in downtown Patchogue. The race is followed by the Taste of Long Island festival, which highlights food, wine and beer produced on Long Island. Entertainment,
such as local bands, Halloween-related activities and other events are also planned.
