Antique Machine Gun Worth $20K Swiped From Long Island Marine Detachment: Police

The inoperable World War II-era gun was stolen sometime in February, Suffolk police said.

BAY SHORE, NY — An inoperable antique machine gun worth about $20,000 was stolen from the roof of the Bay Shore Marine Corps league detachment earlier this month, Suffolk police said.

The World War II-era MG 08 was stolen from the detachment's Sunrise Highway location, sometime in February, and was reported to police on Feb. 18, according to police.

Police released a photo of the stolen gun, as well as a photo of a similar gun to aid in its recovery.

The crime is being investigated as a grand larceny, police said.
