Arrest Made After Bay Shore Shooting: Police

Kenny Walker, of Lindenhurst, was charged in connection with a shooting in front of a Bay Shore home near a child, police said.

BAY SHORE, NY — A Lindenhurst man was arrested Monday after police said he shot a man in front of a Bay Shore home this weekend.

Kenny Walker, 20, was charged with second-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment, police said. He was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child because there was a child in the area at the time of the shooting.

On Sunday at 3:40 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired and found a man shot on 2nd Avenue, police said. The victim was standing in front of a house when the driver of a car pulled up and an occupant fired multiple shots, striking the man, police said. The man was transported to a local hospital and police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Walker will be arraigned on Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Last week, calls to 911 reporting shots fired on Princeton Street were received on Monday at 11:22 p.m. and then again on Tuesday at 11:36 p.m. Shell casings were recovered at the scene after both shootings. There were no injuries.
