Bay Shore 5-Year-Old Receives Special Birthday Surprise
Suffolk police participated in a birthday parade for a local 5-year-old on her birthday last month. Watch a video from the special day.

BAY SHORE, NY — A Bay Shore girl got a special surprise she will never forget for her 5th birthday last month. According to her mother Tara DiMaio, Lilian DiMaio has always loved to dress up as a police officer.
So when her birthday came around on June 18, her grandma decided to plan a special day for her. She reached out to the local Suffolk County police precinct to see if they could make an appearance. That day, officer Peter Rivera led the parade down Kansas Avenue with Chase the paw patrol police dog waving from the back seat and had sirens.

"My daughter was so excited she kissed the ground at the sight of the car," Tara told Patch.

Then once the parade was over, Rivera came back and opened his truck giving Liliana about four different birthday presents.
"They weren’t expected at all, but so appreciated," Tara said. "This officer and the precinct made Lilianas birthday parade so special and we are so grateful for them."
