Bay Shore Big Lots To Open This Week
The department store will be taking over the former Toys R Us, which closed down last year.

BAY SHORE, NY - The new Big Lots taking over the former Toys R Us in Bay Shore will be opening this week.
The new store, located on 1851 Sunrise Highway, will officially open its doors on Thursday, Jan. 31.
The department store chain announced it was coming to Bay Shore in September.

Big Lots currently has seven locations on Long Island including: Carle Place, Riverhead, West Babylon, Centereach, Holbrook, Copiague and Hicksville.
Last March, Toys R Us announced that was planning to sell or close its 880 U.S. retail stores.

The toy store previously had 10 locations, including those under the Babies R Us brand, on Long Island.
The toy giant had filed for bankruptcy in September, a last ditch attempt to save the iconic toy chain. But after slow sales during last Christmas season, the company decided to shut down all stores.
The Bay Shore store, along with many other stores, officially closed its doors in the spring.
