Bay Shore Man Sentenced to Prison For Murder of Farmingville Woman: DA

The man was charged with stabbing the 36-year-old woman back in 2014, the DA said.

A Bay Shore man charged with stabbing a Farmingville woman to death in 2014 was sentenced to 17 years in state prison on Monday, Suffolk County District Attorney said.

In June, 36-year-old Charles Pray pleaded guilty to second degree murder, third degree criminal possession of stolen property, fourth degree grand larceny, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while impaired by drugs and third degree aggravated unlicensed driving, the DA said.

The DA’s office recommended Pray receive a sentence of 25 years to life.

The body of 36-year-old Monica Lino was found by her nephew in her home on Berkshire Drive on July 27, 2014, the DA said.

Pray was arrested the day after, the DA said. A car belonging to Lino was found in a parking lot in Merrick. Police said Pray killed Lino inside her home.

Lino's family read a letter in court which reminded Pray that he took the innocent life of a mother of two children who are left with the haunting nightmare of their mother’s violent death, the DA said.
