Bay Shore Man Seriously Injured After Being Hit by School Bus
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
ISLIP, NY - A Bay Shore man was seriously injured after being hit by a school bus in Islip on Tuesday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police.
Michael Haug, 64, was walking east on Main Street and crossing at Ocean Avenue when he was struck by a 2015 International school bus, police said.
The bus was traveling westbound on Main Street and attempting a left turn onto Ocean Avenue at 4:30 p.m. when the incident occurred.

Haug was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he is listed in serious condition, police said.
The driver of the school bus, 41-year-old Richard Cousin of Bay Shore and two passengers on the bus were not injured, police said.

A safety check on the vehicle was conducted at the scene and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
