Suffolk Motorcyclist Dies In Crash: Police
The driver of the car he struck tried desperately to help, performing CPR until first responders arrived, police say.
BAY SHORE, NY — A Bay Shore motorcyclist died in a crash Wednesday evening, police said.
The crash took place at 6:39 p.m. at the intersection of Richland Boulevard and Howells Road in Bay Shore, Suffolk County police said.
A 48-year-old Bay Shore man was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban north on Richland Boulevard. He stopped at a stop sign at Howells Road, then proceeded through the intersection. His vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a westbound 2018 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by William Thomas Burke, 52, at 6:39 p.m., police said.

The driver of the SUV performed CPR on Burke until first responders arrived, police said.
Burke was taken to South Shore University Hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said.
