Bay Shore Shootings Believed To Be Related To Gang Dispute: PD

Two similar incidents of shootings were reported in the area on Monday and Tuesday. Police are still investigating if they are related.

BAY SHORE, NY — The two shootings reported in Bay Shore this week are believed to be a result of conflict between two gangs in the area, Suffolk Police said in a statement on Thursday. "There is an ongoing dispute between two local neighborhood groups and some of the individuals in those groups are believed to be associated with Blood and Crips street gangs," police wrote. "There is no known MS-13 connection to these shootings."

Calls to 911 reporting shots fired on Princeton Street were received on Monday at 11:22 p.m. and then again on Tuesday at 11:36 p.m. Shell casings were recovered at the scene after both incidents. There were no injuries in either incident.

Police said they are exploring a possible connection between the shootings. While police believe the two incidents are related, they are not releasing any additional information in order to not compromise the investigation.
