Cops Find Guns, Drugs, Gang Items In Home With 4 Children: PD

A 29-year-old man and his girlfriend were charged with keeping weapons, cocaine and more in their home with their 4 kids, police say.

BAY SHORE, NY - A Bay Shore man and his girlfriend were arrested on drug and weapon charges after the execution of a search warrant at their home on Thursday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

Following an investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at the Atlantic Avenue home at 5:50 a.m.

Two loaded handguns, a 12-gauge shotgun, 50 grams of cocaine, 20 grams of MDMA, a quantity of Xanax and steroids, a bulletproof vest, ammunition, assorted Latin Kings items and drug paraphernalia were found in the home, police said.

As a result the home's resident, 29-year-old Kevin Cuevas was arrested, police said.

He was charged with three counts of third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, two counts of criminal possession of a firearm, three counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a child.

Cuevas’ girlfriend, 36-year-old Jaysha Pastrana, was also arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

The couple’s four children were inside the residence, police said. The children were released to a family member.

Cuevas will be held overnight at the third precinct and Pastrana will be held at the fourth precinct.

Both are scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on January 11.
