Crew Rescues Man Who Jumped Off Ferry By Bay Shore Marina
The 22-year-old reportedly jumped off the ferry near the dock on Sunday evening.

BAY SHORE, NY - A 22-year-old man was rescued after jumping off a Fire Island ferry by the Bay Shore Marina on Sunday evening, according to a post on the company's Facebook page.
According to Fire Island Ferries, the crew quickly retrieved the man and turned him over to local authorities after he jumped off.
"The Suffolk County Police Department and USCG have him in custody," a post on the Fire Island Ferries Facebook page reads.

It is unknown if the man received any injuries. The post also did not state why he jumped off.
Suffolk Police confirmed officers responded to a call in that area but could not say if the person jumped or fell off the ferry.

Police said the boat was close to the dock at the time.
Jumping from a ferry is punishable as a civil penalty and can carry up to a $30,000 fine.
