Firefighters Rescue 2 Cats From Blaze At Brightwaters Home

BRIGHTWATERS, NY - Firefighters rescued two cats after a Brightwaters house fire on Sunday night, according to Bay Shore Fire Chief Ed Kunz.
The Bay Shore Fire Department received the call for the fire at the Richland Boulevard home at about 10 p.m.
Arriving firefighters found a car in the driveway and the front of the house garage area on fire. The blaze came from the attic space inside of the garage.

Firefighters rescued the cats while battling the blaze.. The cats were then given oxygen by members of the Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance.
Both residents were out of the house at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The West Islip Fire Department was also on the scene with the Islip Fire Department standing by.
The fire was under control in about 45 minutes. The blaze caused extensive damage to the house.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. The Suffolk County arson squad is currently investigating.
