Historical Society Seeking Owners Of Thousands Of Baby Pictures

Were you born at Southside Hospital between 1956 and 1968? If so, the local society might have your baby picture!

BAY SHORE, NY - Were you born at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore between 1956 and 1968? If so then the Bay Shore Historical Society might have your baby picture.

The local society received a donation of 40,000 negatives of all the babies born at the hospital during that time from Bay Shore Photo after the business closed.

In order to retrieve one of the photos, you just have to provide the mother's last name at the time of the baby's birth, the exact date of birth of the baby and whether the baby was a boy or girl.

Volunteers have spent five years organizing all the negatives, which are separated by year and then alphabetized by mother's name, and have already returned several thousand photos, CBS2 reports.

According to the historical society website, the negatives are available at the society on 22 Maple Avenue for "a donation."

Some, like Joan Moore, have already found their photos at the society. In addition to her own, Moore also found negatives of her sister and brother, who died in a plane crash in 1985, News12 reports.

"It was just nice to find the baby negative of my brother and give that to my mom," she told News12. "Because it really brought back some nice memories."

For Margaret Power, who also found her baby picture at the society, it is now one of the only baby photos she has.

“I’m the fifth of seven kids, so there’s no baby pictures of me at all – none,” she told CBS2.
