Hit-And-Run Driver Still At Large After Striking 2 Pedestrians

The two men were injured after they were hit by a car while crossing the street on Monday night.

BAY SHORE, NY — Two pedestrians were injured after a hit-and-run crash in Bay Shore on Monday night, according to Suffolk Police. Victor Gonzalez Arevalo, 30, and Dany Ibarra Martinez, 36, both of Brentwood, were walking northbound on the sidewalk of Fifth Avenue, before crossing Fairtown Road, when they were struck by a car driving northbound on Fifth Avenue, making a right turn onto Fairtown Road at 6:30 p.m.

Gonzalez was transported by the Brentwood Legion Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with life-threatening injuries. Ibarra Martinez had a minor injury to his left foot.

Police believe the car that hit the two men was a white SUV that fled eastbound on Fairtown Road. The investigation is continuing.
