Hit-And-Run Driver Wanted For Critically Injuring Pedestrian: PD

The driver struck a 74-year-old woman before fleeing the scene Monday morning, police said.

BAY SHORE, NY — A pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Bay Shore on Monday morning, according to Suffolk Police. Mary Barbato, 74, of Bay Shore was walking on Moffitt Boulevard, near Brentwood Road, when she was struck by a car at 6:15 a.m. Barbato was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in critical condition.

The driver fled the scene of the crash. Detectives believe the vehicle may be a red SUV with possible front-end damage. The driver fled westbound on Moffitt Boulevard and southbound on Brentwood Road.
