The gift, which was announced at the October 20 press conference unveiling plans for a $500 million transformation of the South Shore University Hospital campus, is in honor of the Hoffman’s parents, Dr. William and Anna Hoffman. Dr. Hoffman was previously chair of medicine at what was then Southside Hospital.
“The transformation of this community hospital into a growing exceptional tertiary care facility serving all of Suffolk County, coupled with the significant role the hospital has played in our lives for four generations, inspired our family to make this donation to further benefit Northwell Health’s vision for health care in this region,” Mr. Hoffman said.
