Homeless Man Arrested For The Third Time For 3 Burglaries: SCPD

The 20-year-old burglarized three businesses last week, police say. He was arrested twice before this month for four other burglaries.

TOWN OF ISLIP, NY — A homeless man was arrested for the third time this month on Sunday for burglarizing several local businesses across the Town of Islip over the past month, according to Suffolk Police.

Following an investigation into three burglaries reported in the past month, 20-year-old Qumail Mooredrew was found and arrested at a vacant house on First Avenue in Bay Shore at 11 a.m. on January 26, police said.

Mooredrew was charged with three counts of third burglary for burglarizing Mama Santini Pizzeria on 201 Orinoco Drive in Brightwaters on January 26; Gloria Laundromat on 2106 Union Boulevard in Bay Shore on January 23; and State of the Art Laundromat on 1900 Union Boulevard in Bay Shore on December 24, police said.

He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.

Mooredrew was previously arrested on January 12 and charged with third burglary for burglarizing Mama Santini Pizzeria, police said. He was arraigned the following day and released.

In addition he was arrested on January 4 and charged with three counts of third degree burglary for burglarizing Cyrus Coffee on 1 Railroad Plaza in Bay Shore on January 2; Bagel Café on 134 West Main Street in Bay Shore on January 2; and Tacos Guacamole on 617A East Main Street in Islip, police said. He was arraigned the next day and released.
