LI Police Officers Carry Semi-Conscious Woman From Burning Home

The woman was found in back bedroom and four officers worked together to get her out of the house, Suffolk police said.

BAY SHORE, NY — A semi-conscious woman was rescued from a house fire in Bay Shore by four police officers early Monday morning, Suffolk police said.

Officers Ronald Racioppi, Christopher Grenia, Richard Meyer, and Thomas Komoroski responded to a report of a fire at a home on Udall Road just before 1 a.m., police said, adding that when they arrived at the scene, “a resident of the home who had escaped the fire told the officers there was still a woman trapped inside.”

The officers broke down the front door of the home, and one of the officers was "repelled" by heavy smoke, so he went outside, and started looking through windows, and saw a woman inside of a back bedroom, police said. He ran back into the house, and “yelled to the others,” police said, adding that “together, they found the semi-conscious woman and carried her to safety.”
